Uni-Form is an attempt to standardize form markup (xhtml), css and JavaScript, „modularize” it, so even people with only basic knowledge of these technologies can get nice looking, well structured, highly customizable, semantic, accessible and usable forms.
The main goal is to make the whole thing as much „plug ‘n’ play” as possible, literally reduce the whole process of form creation to copy and paste technique. The result currently works in the following browsers:
* IE6
* IE7
* Firefox
* Opera9.x
* Safari
* Camino
* Konqueror
How Does it Work?
The whole idea came from the Microformats movement and various ideas for standardizing form markup and it’s nomenclature. Forms in html are somewhat specific and kind of a „gray area” for developers, designers especially, elements are inflexible, crude, and basically it is the „soft spot” of html. Not many people know how to mark up their forms properly and semantically, so hopefully this will be of help to them – and in turn – also help people who will eventually be using those forms.
Basically all you need to do is apply a few classes here and there and copy and paste special snippets of code (called units) that you need for your form.
Getting Started
NOTE: Uni-Form will work out of the box, but in order to get real control over your design and form layout, it requires a good amount of familliarity with CSS and of course – you’ll have to dive into the code. It is primarily a tool for developers.
It sounds like you’re creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place
The crux of your writing while appearing reasonable in the beginning, did not settle perfectly with me personally after some time. Somewhere within the paragraphs you managed to make me a believer unfortunately just for a very short while. I nevertheless have got a problem with your jumps in assumptions and one would do well to fill in all those breaks. In the event you actually can accomplish that, I could surely end up being amazed.
Heya! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to prevent hackers?
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
